Advanced Feature Set
As well as ease-of-use, cost effective pricing and
high performance, Madge RapidFire 3140 supports the
industry initiatives including Wake -on-LAN,
Remote Boot, ACPI (Advanced Configuration and
Power Interface) and promiscuous mode
(network interrogation) support.
The BootROM socket (or fixed device) allows remote
boot functionality. This gives Network Administrators
the ability to make PC start up more secure and
controllable.
The Advanced Configuration and Power Interface
(ACPI) is a industry standard for PCI devices. It allows an ACPI-aware PC to understand the power consumption requirements of each PCI device. This means an ACPI operating system such as Windows 2000 can economically control the power state of a PC. The PC can be automatically placed in a low power state and quickly resume full operation at the command of the user or of a re mote management console using Microsoft OnNow.
