NLynx Gemini Mux physically connects traditional IBM-compatible “Twinax” devices using standard CAT5/CAT6 UTP (Unshielded Twisted Pair) wiring (RJ11, RJ12, RJ45).
Physically connects up to 56 devices supported from two IBM twinax controllers on a single pair of Fiber Optic cables.

NLynx Gemini Express Twinax to Fiber Optic Multiplexer

The Gemini Express Fiber Optic Multiplexer enables traditional IBM 5250 compatible Twinax devices to connect to IBM iSeries, i5Series, AS/400 and S/3x servers up to 15,000 feet away via Fiber Optic cable and inexpensive UTP (Unshielded Twisted Pair) wiring, thereby eliminating the need for expensive, proprietary twinaxial cabling.

Regardless of whether the desktop device is a twinax-style terminal or printer, or even a PC with a twinax emulation card and software installed, the NLynx Gemini Express Mux delivers a robust and reliable star configuration UTP cabling infrastructure.

The Gemini Mux is designed for trouble-free installation, extending the connection distance between the IBM server and any twinax desktop device up to 15,000 feet total over a multi-mode fiber optic cable.

The Gemini Express Fiber Optic Multiplexer is the industry standard in providing compatibility for all IBM Twinax wiring modes, including the 2 Mbps Express mode.

Twinax controller redundancy and maximum fiber optic efficiency are obtained by multiplexing four ports each from up to two separate IBM controllers, for a total device capacity of 56 devices.

Advanced, aggressive noise filtering and signal conditioning is deigned into all ports to ensure reliable error-free communication, even over poor-quality or noisy network cabling.

Other features include user-configurable UTP pin assignments, including reverse polarity, and a field replaceable wide-ranging power supply.
