Emergency Battery Backup (EBB) Option for Ringdale ActiveLED™ light fixtures
The Ringdale Emergency Battery Backup (EBB) option is specifically designed to provide at least two hours of emergency battery backup power to any Ringdale ActiveLED™ light fixture.
The EBB option consists of a sealed lead-acid battery and electronics in a self-contained housing that is cable-connected to an ActiveLED light fixture.
The prerequisite for the EBB is a Ringdale ActiveLED light fixture with a power supply that has the Battery Backup option.
The EBB unit is managed, monitored and charged by the Power Supply in the ActiveLED fixture to ensure that the battery is kept charged and is not drained of charge when there is a power failure. Should the AC power be disconnected or fail for any reason, the Power Supply in the light fixture senses this, switches over to the EBB unit and adjusts the light output of the LED fixture to ensure that it will run at this emergency level for at least two hours.
To maintain the integrity and longevity of the sealed lead-acid emergency battery, the Power Supply will gradually turn off the LED fixture when the battery in the EBB unit has been drawn down to about 50% of its capacity.
When the AC power is resumed to the LED fixture, the Power Supply will trickle-charge the emergency battery and thereafter monitor and maintain the battery at its maximum capacity.
Status Indicator
A single LED is visible from the outside of the EBB housing to indicate the status of the battery, as follows:
Solid Red LED - Battery is in operation, powering the attached light fixture.
Flashing Red LED - Battery condition is too low to power the attached light fixture.
Solid Green LED - Battery condition is good and is not in operation, it is being
trickle-charged by the power supply of the light fixture.
