An Ethernet Monitor for analyzing Token Ring network traffic

Ringdale’s Ethernet to Token Ring Monitor offers Ethernet LAN analyzer (sniffer) devices easy access to a Token Ring network. Installation is quick and easy as the device does not require any setup or configuration. Once installed, the Monitor will function automatically.

The Monitor provides a cost effective method of monitoring data packets on a Token Ring network using any standard Ethernet LAN analyzer device or program. Simply connect your Ethernet "sniffer" directly to the monitor and all packets, with the exception of Broadcast and Multicast, are translated from Token Ring into Ethernet frame type.

The monitor will convert all protocols from the Token Ring network into Ethernet packets for the LAN analyzer to capture. A network administrator can analyze network issues and bottlenecks keeping traffic flowing efficiently.

An Ethernet connection is made with an RJ-45 connector configured to allow a straight cable to run to any 10baseT Ethernet Monitor. The connection to the Token Ring is made using a Type 1 cable on a 9-way DB connector or Type 3 cable on an RJ-45 connector. The Bridge has the ability to automatically sense which Token Ring connection is used and the Token Ring speed at either 4MHz or 16MHz.
