NLynx 8216, 8224 & 8228 Plus Series of Token Ring MAUs.
NLynx Token Ring MAUs for 4 Mbs and 16 Mbs networks. A full range of products available in 4, 8 and 16 port Token Ring configurations. All the functions of conventional MAUs, plus front panel LEDs, push button port alignment, and auto wrap on the RJ45 Ring In/Ring Out. Active port LEDs indicate status of each MAU port. Supports the use of mixed media. Made in the USA.
The MAU 82XX Plus series is the second generation of Token Ring Multistation Access Units (MAUs) from NLynx, delivering increased reliability and cost effectiveness. These easy-to-connect units require no insertion tools, thereby simplifying installation, troubleshooting and network management. The MAU 82XX-Plus are fully compatible with IBM® Token Ring networks and may be used alone or in conjunction with IBM Model 82xx MAUs
Packed with features. The NLynx Series MAUs are designed for placement in centralized wiring closets for easy installation, troubleshooting, and network management. They have all the functions of conventional MAUs, plus front-panel LEDs, push-button port alignment, and full 16Mbps support on shielded or unshielded twisted pair cable. No external power supply is required, so installation is a snap.
Makes insertion tools obsolete. A separate port insertion tool (in some cases an extra cost item) is unnecessary with the Plus Series. Lobe port relays are aligned by pressing the front-panel button. Active
stations are not interrupted. A replaceable battery provides the power for this feature.
Instant lobe port status. When troubleshooting with conventional MAUs, it is impossible to tell if an attached PC is active on the network. NLynx MAUs are equipped with active port LEDs which indicate the status of each MAU port. Active ports are instantly identified during troubleshooting.
Lower cabling and installation costs. Unshielded twisted pair (CAT 5) cabling is the low-cost alternative for installing and maintaining 16 or 4Mbps LANs. 16Mbps lobe lengths of 430 feet for Cat 5 and 500 feet for Type 1 and Type 2 (STP) cabling. Lobe lengths of 210 feet are obtainable with Type 3 (UTP) cabling and 375-foot lobe lengths with level 4 (UTP). 4Mbps rings can have lobes up to 1220 feet away.
Multiple mounting options standard. Brackets are provided for flush rack mount, recessed rack mount, wall mount, and shelf mount. The Plus Series use RJ45 connectors for all ports.
