FollowMe® Public Printing

Product Overview

Now you can obtain printed documents, faxes or printed emails on demand at any location throughout the world. By utilizing existing web browser technology, FollowMe Public Printing is able to provide a web interface for printer usage and user management.

FollowMe Public Printing offers users a truly driverless client-printing environment. Through the use of server technology, FollowMe provides server-side application printing as opposed to printing documents on client workstations.

In today's day and age, this feature offers many advantages for mobile printing from almost any device including laptops, PDAs and any other device supporting a web browser. This feature offers many advantages in this day and age for mobile printing from almost any device including laptops, PDA's and any other devices supporting a web browser.

System Overview

FollowMe Public Printing works on a Client-Server infrastructure with a central server or servers handling all print jobs in a similar way to a print server.

It consists of three core components, the first being the client, which is the users web browser. Secondly is the Q-Server, which is the print server, which stores all print jobs uploaded from the client, and manages all communications. And thirdly the hardware is located on the printer and allows the variety of different recognition techniques to be sent to the server for authentication.

This option does not require any software to be installed on the client workstation, although there is an option that a client side application can be downloaded to ensure the data transferred is encrypted to FollowMe standards.

The user can now login to the Public Printing web page and then select either Microsoft Office or Adobe Acrobat files and click an upload button. These files will then be sent from the client machine to server through the web browser and will be stored on the Q-Server.

The user must first authenticate at the Hardware using any of the supported recognition techniques. Once a user has authenticated the Q-Server will release any pending print jobs. If the device (copier/printer/MFP) is copy patrol enabled the FollowMe Q-Server will signal the hardware to enable the copy patrol functionality.
